My New Beginning

A few months ago I turned 30 years old, and with that change....I am evolving. I am evolving into a new person. I wanted to start a blog again because I think it helps when I am going through a change. It helps me to document and share my growth as I evolve. I am in the process of transitioning to natural hair. I am 20 weeks post relaxer and it feels great. I am experimenting with my hair and falling in love with it. I was natural a few years ago and I did the pic chop back then. This time I am going to only grow out the relaxed hair. The big chop was too much for me last time. I wasn't comfortable with the short hair because that isn't me. I think this time around I know more about my natural texture, I have more patience, and I so much more determined. I fired my old stylist because I am serious about this and I don't think she knew how to help me along in this journey. I love her to death when she does my relaxed hair but the natural hair isn't her thing. She constantly wanted to flat iron my hair each week but I didn't want heat damage. I did not let her use heat on my fully relaxed hair so I am not sure why she felt like I'd like heat on my transitioning hair. So for everyone who would like to follow me on this road to the new me....stay tuned. I have already made several changes to myself as I step into my 30's. I am loving the new me and can't wait to continue the documentation here on this blog. This week I did my own braid out!!!! I kinda like the results for my first try but I will continue trying. Let me know what you think about my style.
New growth 22 weeks post relaxer
Braid out on 90% dry hair (my first attempt) it was ok but wasn't too pleased with the definition of the waves.

rebraided later that night and spritzed with water and wore the braids until the next morning.

Here are the results...a little better to me but this will be my staple transition style so I will keep working on it. I will rebraid every other night until my wash day on Thursday.

pic of the curls...I kinda like:)
